Effective today, for the remainder of this school year, GMCS will no longer require athletic facility entry fees for any regular-season home athletic event. District and State games held at our schools will still have an entry fee per the NMAA. This change was approved by the GMCS school Board at yesterday’s board meeting to help lessen the financial burden on families during this time and to encourage more fans to come support our student athletes.
Parents can now add their 5-11-year-old children to the COVID vaccination registration portal as a dependent to the parent account. This will allow parents to schedule an appt for the covid vaccine for their children as soon as the rollout is approved. Scheduling is expected to begin as early as next week. Please share this information with your school community.
We are seeing climate changes disrupt the natural balance of this “circuit of soils, plants, and animals.” Unpredictable variations in temperature and rainfall in the Southwest are creating soil erosion, water scarcity, habitat loss, and more.
ESSAY PROMPT What actions have you taken to help “tend the land” (such as protecting soil, plants, animals, wildlife habitat, water sources, etc.), or what are your ideas for how you and other young people can help counteract the impacts of climate disruption on the different elements of your local environment?
This is where parents come into the school instead of the student and the teachers work with parents on how they can better help their elementary student at home. At the APTT meetings together the parent and teacher will look over the students portfolio, class ranks and the child’s skills.
These APTT meeting will start happening come November. So parents look out for that information so you can put some time aside to learn what your child is learning to better help them. These meetings will be held in the evenings and last about 1.5 hours
